USPTO Policies and Procedures Update for Coronavirus

The US Patent and Trademark Office has issued new rules for conducting business for the coronavirus outbreak. Some of those affected by the coronavirus may extend their filing deadlines to June 1. The coronavirus, called SARS-CoV2, causes the symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Key updates:
•In-person meetings to be conducted remotely by video or telephone
•Coronavirus deemed an “extraordinary situation“; certain petition fees waived for customers impacted by coronavirus.
•Extension of time (pursuant to CARES Act) for those affected by the coronavirus; deadlines between March 27 to May 31 are extended to June 1, 2020.
